Wilco Gives Chicago The Whole Love

Wilco play their fifth and final Chicago-area show of 2011 at Lincoln Hall on December 18 at 8:00pm. The concert benefits the Inspiration Corporation, an organization that aids Chicagoans characterized by homelessness and poverty by helping them find work and providing permanent supportive housing. Tickets are $100 and go on-sale on Saturday, October 22 at 10:00 am Central time through etix.com. Two ticket limit strictly enforced. Must be 18 and over to attend.    Wilco play four other sold-out concerts in Chicago earlier that week: December 12 at the Civic Opera House, December 13 at The Riviera, December 15 at The Vic and December 16 at Metro.

“Wilco has stood with Inspiration Corporation since 2008, supporting programs that help vulnerable people to live happier and more self-sufficient lives,” said Shannon Stewart, Inspiration Corporation’s Executive Director & CEO. “In a time when so many donors and government funders have been forced to reduce their support, we are grateful that Wilco is helping to fill the void.”

Wilco’s sold-out December 13 show at The Riviera is one of radio station WXRT’s Holiday Concerts for Kids. For 25 years WXRT has presented this special benefit concert series to collect toys and raise money for local children’s hospitals. Concert attendees are encouraged to bring a new book or toy to the show to be distributed to Chicago-area children hospitalized during the holiday season.

Chicago-area residents not attending any of the upcoming Wilco concerts can still get in on the giving by purchasing The Whole Love at select Garrett Popcorn Shops or online or by purchasing a commemorative one gallon tin of the “Chicago Mix” + The Whole Love. Together, throughout the month of November, Garrett and Wilco will donate $2 from each CD sale and $4 from each popcorn + CD bundle sale to the Jane Addams Hull House Association, an organization working to improve social conditions for Chicago’s under-served residents.

And for everyone outside (and inside) the Chicago area, a very limited number of The Whole Love cassettes will soon be available through Wilco’s online store with all proceeds benefitting Direct Effect Charities – a Chicago-based organization working with Chicago public schools to assist children in need.  The cassettes feature five different cover art images, photographed by five different winners of a recent Hipstamatic iPhone App contest.
