New DVD from Nels Cline and Norton Wisdom

Guitarist Nels Cline and painter Norton Wisdom, both masters of their medium, joined together last year for an afternoon of sonic and visual improvisation caught on film by Aeght Nign. Armed with his guitar and effects, Cline constructs lush soundscapes brought about by Wisdom's brush-stroke spontaneity. Wisdom in turn follows Cline's auditory twists creating and recreating the same canvas.
Two mesmerizing performances are included on the DVD along with special features like the Norton Headcam, and a behind-the-scenes look into the sessions. The DVD is available from Green Leaf Music.

Wilco, Beck, Feist, etc. team up for Beck Record Club Release

Last June while the band were in Los Angeles, they were invited to participate in Beck's Record Club project on a remake of Skip Spence's 'Oar' album. The first track from those sessions has just been posted on Beck's website where you can read more about the session and the Record Club project, and you can check out the video for the track below.

Pronto Releases digital LP "The Cheetah"

Mikael Jorgensen's other band Pronto have just released a digital only LP called "The Cheetah". Available via the Contraphonic Records website.

WILCO joins Neil Finn and others for OXFAM

This past December members of Wilco traveled to New Zealand to be a part of Neil Finn's OXFAM Project "7 Worlds Collide". The outcome of this effort is a double album called 'The Sun Came Out', set for release on September 29.

The record is the result of a three week session at Roundhead Studios in New Zealand -- a double album of original songs featuring tracks by Johnny Marr (‘Too Blue’), KT Tunstall ('Hazel Black'), Wilco ('You Never Know') as well as Radiohead drummer Phil Selway’s songwriting and vocal debut ('The Ties That Bind Us'). Other acts who contributed both their time and talent include Ed O'Brien, Liam Finn, Sebastian Steinberg, Tim Finn, Lisa Germano, Don McGlashan and Bic Runga. The album was produced by Jim Scott. All proceeds from sales of the record will go to Oxfam.
